Well folks, thats it, closing it tomorrow! Friday, the 21st at 3:00pm. Its going to be the biggest check I have ever written, quite scary. Over the next few months we will be renovating almost the entire house. Kitchen, Bathrooms, floors… Tearing down walls, and putting up a new ones. Going to re-wire some older electric, and also add in some Cat6 to the walls for the ethernet. Besides what we have put down on the house, we saved up some cash to put into the house for the renovations. I’m very excited, and can not wait to get the keys tomorrow! ( the house is empty right now)
I plan to video tape a lot of the work and progress that goes on, and if I can snag a wifi signal I’ll broadcast it live. Nonetheless the video’s will be posted on here from time to time, I plan on taking apart the kitchen first, and utilizing the cabinets I take down for extra storage in the garage. ( Sorry no smashing here) I plan to smash down a wall or two, so I’ll be sure to get that on video.
I do have to re-route some baseboard heating, I am not quite sure how I am going to do that ( I have no experience with plumbing), but I am sure I’ll learn. So stay tuned, I’ll post an update this weekend!
Well folks, my golf days are soon over! We have a closing date of this Friday on the house we purchased. I also have the Co-Op sold, and the bank appraiser is coming tomorrow to look over the place. So I’ll have to miss work for a bit twice this week, but at least tomorrow I can work from home. I am very excited, I can not WAIT to get out of this Co-Op. It was great for the first year, but then after that it drove me nuts that I could not just walk outside to fire up a BBQ or smash a golf ball or two. It is going to be a quite a hectic next 6 months or so, because most, if not all of my free time will be spent renovating the fixer upper we just purchased.
I hope to document most of the renovation process with both my camera and my camcorder. I did get a beta invite to Justin.TV, they allow you to broadcast live (stream) a video feed from anywhere to anyone wanting to watch. If I can some how get my renovation progress to broadcast from the house I’ll do it. I do not think I will have a broadband connection from there the first few weeks, so I’ll just tape and or photograph the progress and post it when I have time.
Reality of a “real” mortgage is really hitting me, the past (almost) three years have been quite easy with the Co-Op. We shall see what will come of this, keep tuned in.
We have been to a few places to check out tile, cabinets, flooring (wood), and numerous other places. There are so man choices!
I received the DeWalt tools from eBay, everything came perfect and new! I’ll be looking for some more tools to save 50% compared to Home Depot Ripoff Depot.
Other then that, I looked into grieving taxes, it seems the previous owner has been doing his job by grieving them every year. I also read that grieving your taxes after purchasing your home is a great idea, because you can use your appraisal and purchase price as proof for your home value. Being that Nassau County (Long Island) seems to over inflate your home value to rape you in taxes, this looks like a good option for me to fight the man.
Suggestions?
